The Christmas holidays present a multitude of pursuits much better than scanning the headlines: unwrapping gifts, getting stuffed on festive fare, and using patience techniques to not arguing with family members. It is wished you succeeded in accomplish all these things and more. However, the world of entertainment doesn't take a break, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. Many thrilling developments surfaced during the holidays, and just in case you missed some of them, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Is Moving Forward (By 2027)

Without a doubt the most surprising announcement, the notorious controversial season that was season 3 of One-Punch Man failed to halt more episodes. The show will come back with a second cour in 2027—so far away they easily could have called it season 4. Even more shocking, animation studio J.C. Staff will still be at the helm. On a positive note this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the beginning, which might be a hopeful indicator. But, the main art for the second cour is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou facing different directions. This makes me think that, by now, they could be teasing the fans.

Ruri Dragon Will Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has established a standing for being an top-tier animation studio, making its mark not just for the exceptional quality of its productions but for the ethical practices of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had never worked on an anime adapted from a manga published in Shonen Jump, arguably the best-known magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo achieved widespread acclaim when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it resumed publication with a more relaxed pace, the series showed it hadn't lost the fans' support and goodwill, and now the community is thrilled about the upcoming KyoAni adaptation.

Kingdom Its Sixth Season Has a Sequel Now in the Works

Kingdom is the highly popular, decades-spanning Shueisha manga that is aside from One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English translation, but the anime has been airing for years, and season 6 was a further stellar entry. Apparently that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been revealed as in development, and it will almost certainly premiere in 2026.

Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

Another studio famous for the artistic merit of its projects, Science Saru has given us critically acclaimed works of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an prominent woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and intriguing visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my list of anticipated shows.

Tougen Anki Is Set to Continue With a Season Two

Right after the airing of the final episode of the first season, it was announced that Tougen Anki will be getting a sequel. Based on the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki is based on the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will cover the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm premiere date has yet to be revealed.
