Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period like this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
