Experience this Reimagined Classic Journey: A Complimentary Demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Lands Soon.

Enthusiasts anticipating the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. A highly anticipated demo version is set to release on January 7th, granting a generous look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, any progress made within this demo can be carried over directly into the main game upon its subsequent debut.

More Than a Simple Remake: A Complete Transformation

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined constitutes a from-scratch reinterpretation of the seminal 2000 role-playing game, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant departure from recent Dragon Quest re-releases, like the previously launched HD-2D versions, this version embraces a unique three-dimensional art style. The world have been crafted to resemble detailed dioramas, with party members sporting a whimsical toy-like appearance.

"Considering the 3DS port, the main quest was remained quite extended. Consequently, the team reached a conclusion that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an adventure for today's audiences."

Key Mechanical Changes & Updates

The creators have added several enhancements to refresh the original experience. These include:

  • Streamlined Field Battles: Taking a cue from contemporary role-playing games, weaker foes can now be dispatched directly on the field eliminating the need for initiating a separate turn-based battle sequence.
  • Adjustable Battle Speed: Players can speed up combat animations to rapidly power through less challenging encounters.
  • Expanded Vocation Mechanics: One completely new character role has been added for this remake. Additionally, characters gain the option to take on a secondary vocation, significantly enhancing customization depth.

Such changes seek to mitigate a key the 2000 game's most noted criticisms: its daunting scope. That initial adventure could easily require more than 100 hours to see through. This reimagined edition has been expressly structured to enhance pacing and cut down on perceived bloat.
