Jurgen Klopp states a return to lead Liverpool is conceivable.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with his interviewer: “I said I will never coach any other side within the country. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, which suggests the choice could be mine later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties a week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits at the club. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong well-judged squad. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and the effect at the club. The forward lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling recently.

“How do you replace a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is challenging. Unbearable.”
