The analysis found that fossil fuel lobbyists were present at 48% extra official discussions under the present administration's initial year relative to the previous year.

Ministers supported the discussions, asserting that officials conducted discussions with a wide range of delegates from "the energy industry, labor organizations and community groups to propel our sustainable energy leading initiative".

• Officials at the Net Zero Ministry met with fossil fuel lobbyists 274 times, with sector representatives attending approximately one-fourth of meetings.

• The energy minister held discussions with petroleum sector advocates 250 times – with one-third of all his meetings including corporate delegates.

• During the equivalent duration government representatives met with worker group agents 61 times.

• Several leading fossil fuel companies held discussions with representatives 100 times collectively.

• Fossil fuel lobbyists were present at the majority of ministerial discussion about the excess profits charge, a temporary charge on the "unprecedented revenues" of North Sea energy corporations.

An environmental politician remarked: "In place of heeding scientists, populations suffering from flooding, or parents anxious to secure a secure tomorrow for their future generations, this government is favoring corporate representatives and earnings for oil and gas giants."

Government Rebuttal

Ministers asserted the findings were "deceptive", saying numerous of the corporations mentioned also had renewable energy projects and that these topics were often the focus of the discussions.
