Bouldering in the National Park
Even complete newcomers will quickly be climbing sheltered Peak District crags on this two-day session. Learners will become proficient in tying in, belaying and a range of climbing techniques, as well as rappelling. Non-Representational Art in Spain
Moclín, a ancient hillside village in Andalucía, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the stimulating location for this creative getaway. Artists of all abilities – even novices – will be taught how to conceive and execute non-representational pieces. Some time will be spent outdoors, working on structured activities in the open. These initial charcoal drawings and paintings will then be developed in the studio, with participants creating several abstract landscapes in acrylic paint to be displayed in the village. Participants has sole use of the hotel, which is built around an central patio and has a sun terrace with views over the countryside. The fee includes five days of art instruction; full board; and an excursion to the nearby fortress and additional local sights.

Vegetarian Culinary in the Algarve
This sun-drenched cooking retreat, set on a riverside villa in the central Portuguese region, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of celebrated cooks. Guests will learn to produce selection of small dishes, attend a falafel-making workshop, refine brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses such as spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the local market and a nearby winery to sample local vintages, along with free time for walks by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or swim in the infinity pool. The accommodation, a former farmhouse, has multiple rooms, as well as safari tents in the grounds.

Hip Hop in Buckinghamshire
This energetic camp is an uplifting, welcoming three-day dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The format throughout the camp is a high-energy warm-up session, followed by three hour-and-a-half workshops teaching different urban dance forms, then an 60-minute freestyle session to show off new moves. Dancers are divided into levels based on ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to street dance, right up to advanced dancers or teachers. The camp doesn’t include lodging but there are several hostels and hotels nearby, and it is under an hour by train into central London.

Maritime Singing Break in St Ives
This coastal town is the excellent spot for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at composing original ones. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, performance tips and a final evening concert. The holiday is held in a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. Full board are provided, such as a Cornish cream tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Grog, unfortunately, is not provided. Everyone join in: “What will we do with the tipsy mariner …?”

Creative Writing in Crete
Writer and lecturer an experienced instructor conducts the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He covers everything from plot, character development, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to publishers. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host events at the beginning and end of the week. The holiday is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages are set around a garden and pool (companions are encouraged to come along). On the final evening, budding authors mark the occasion with a musical performance in the garden and a farewell dinner.

Introduction to Beekeeping in Mid Wales
The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of programs covering eco-living: from wildlife gardening to making pallet furniture. This two-day course will help participants get to grips with the basics of apiary management, explore the biology of bees and discover their environmental benefits. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a opportunity to relax in the organization's carefully maintained forests, which are home to polecats, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and rare birds. Bed and breakfast the night before is £80, and full-board accommodation during the course is 97 pounds.

Sailing for Beginners in Essex
These new weekend sailing courses are spent on Wayfarers and Dufours on the Blackwater estuary. They are aimed at novice sailors learning the ropes or more experienced mariners who want a refresher. Sailors can improve their steering, strengthen their seamanship and work towards the Royal Yachting Association’s levels one to three in a supportive atmosphere. There are day-only and overnight packages, staying in basic shared rooms in the waterfront training centre. The non-residential package includes lunches, while the residential package includes two nights' stay and full board, from full English breakfasts to BBQ dinners.
