Two Men Face Charges Regarding Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray resulted in harm at London's Heathrow Airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after exiting a car park lift, police said.
A three-year-old girl was one of the people hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to a medical facility and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
