Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed condolences for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
